Manager - Lake House Arts Centre - applications close 29 April 2017
The Lake House Arts Centre is a popular and successful venue providing artists' studios, children's and adults' art classes, exhibitions and a cafe and function space in a heritage building based in Takapuna.  

We are looking for a creative, dynamic and innovative person to replace our current manager who is moving on after four and a half years.  

If you can demonstrate the following competencies and experience, then you may be the right person for the job:

  • Successful venue management experience; 

  • Strong arts community networks - well connected; 

  • Able to build strong and effective customer and commercial relationships; 

  • Able to successfully lead a team of professional staff and build the volunteer base;  

  • Can develop and implement effective marketing strategies to increase market share;

  • Understands the grant funding environment and can leverage funding; 

  • Financially and technologically competent to operate in a business environment; 

  • Design skills and competency with Adobe design packages;

  • Energy, vitality, innovation and commitment to take the Lake House to a new level

New Position! Public Programmes and Volunteer Coordinator: Applications closed

To coordinate and administer the Lake House Arts public programmes and events, including exhibitions and openings, large scale events, free activities for families and children and assistance with school visits. Administer and manage Lake House’s large volunteer base, ensuring retention of current volunteers, engagement of new people as well as training and monitoring of performance. Some weekend and evening work required.

Key skills required:

  • High level of customer service
  • Exhibition management and curation
  • Knowledge of, and contacts in, the NZ art scene
  • Event management 
  • Artist liaison and management
  • Education in an art gallery setting experience advantageous but not necessary
  • Experience with volunteers in a supervisory role
  • A fine art or Museums qualification
  • high level of computer skills

Gallery Shop and Venue Hire Coordinator: APPLICATIONS NOW CLOSED

We need a new staff member to coordinate and administer the Lake House Arts Centre’s Gallery Shop and venue hire spaces.

The Gallery Shop and Venue hire coordinator will be the friendly and helpful first impression for Lake House Arts. The position involves manning the reception and offering information and direction to any and all visitors, managing the  stock and sourcing new artists for our art shop and processing bookings and organising the venue hire spaces at Lake House Arts. A high level of customer service skills, computer literacy and cash handling or retail experience is essential. An interest in the arts is desirable.

Weekend Supervisor: APPLICATIONS NOW CLOSED

The Weekend Supervisor position is sole charge, 10am - 3pm on a Saturday. The job involves manning the reception which is part of our busy Art Centre's art shop and gallery. A high level of customer service skills, computer literacy, retail experience and an interest in art is essential. This position is an excellent opportunity for someone who would like to gain experience in a supervisory role, and also looks great on the CV for those interested in pursuing a career in the arts. Other opportunities within the organisation are also available on a casual basis for the right person.
