About the exhibition:
"The rebels
The nonconformists
Not willing to be confined by the rules
Not waiting to be told what to do
We make ithappen. We get up, and we do it.
The Getaway Girls are a bunch of NZ artists working in contemporary arts practice.
Spread across NZ, The Getaway Girls commit to 'getaway' twice a year - stepping away from everyday issues; coming together to engage, share and offer support. Sharing creative approaches to overcome barriers, enabling participation, celebrating differences, and ultimately enhancing wellbeing among the group.
The Getaway Girls grew from this need for support - despite differences in locations, gender, age, culture and artistic influences. Supporting the drive to carry on creating and to remain in individual practices."
