Rush Hour Art Classes

Avoid the traffic and make Art! Come and join a fun selection of art classes (below) instead of being stuck in rush hour traffic! Learn new skills and enjoy gluten free pizza (meat/vegetarian)  which is included in the price. Water will also be available and food when you arrive promptly at 5.45pm with free parking.

Ceramics Menagerie with Susan Browne (Rush Hour Art Class)

Join popular  Ceramics Teacher Susan Browne exploring small ceramic projects over the course of the term to create a ceramics managerie (a strange or diverse collection of people or things). Created works will be exhibited at the end of term during a students showcase.

Art Appreciation (Rush Hour Art Class)

Active discussion and review of art styles and artists both contemporary and from history.  Come along and begin to form your own vision for how you appreciate art, or actively flex those muscles to discover something new.

Te Reo Maori Me Kai with Natanahira Pona (Rush Hour Arts Class)

Learn Te Reo Maori with Natanahira Pona, one of Lake House Arts founding whakairo (art carving) artists.  Interwoven with food, stories and learning this is an accessible class in a supportive and fun environment.

Travel Sketching with Tony McNeight (Rush Hour Art Class)

 Ever seen an amazing view, building, famous landmark ,here or overseas and thought,

 “Wow! I’d really like to draw that”.

 Travel sketching classes show you how you can, even if you previously never thought possible.

Travel sketching teaches you to take ‘time out.’ It also teaches you to connect with your subject, on paper (in your style ) with Tony guiding you every step of the way.

You will learn to work in ink, add colours and take home great little works you never dreamed you could do.

Avoid the traffic, come and join a small group of people who would like to learn the basics of Travel sketching and have fun at the same time.

MATERIALS: 1 x A5 spiral bound blank page note book (approx. 110 gsm), 1 x set of 12 Norris Club Aquarelle pencils,  1 x  Staedtler pigment liner 0.4, 1 x pencil sharpener and 1 x waterbrush (these come in sets of 3  sizes , I use 2 of the 3, the fine being too fine).

Come, relax and learn to breathe life into your figure drawing with industry trained artist and ex Disney animator, Dean Trembath.

With a combination of models sheets and live models you will be guided through the art of gestural drawing, anatomy and the use of boxes, spheres and cylinders to create 3 dimensional forms that will take your skills to the next level.

MATERIALS: Artist quality A3 paper, 2B artist pencil, eraser and pencil sharpener. Individuals can bring along their own reference material and pencils.
