Pastels are created using almost pure pigment, and when an artist picks up a stick of pastel, they’re holding light and colour in their fingertips. The tactile nature of this medium gives the artist immediate feedback and a direct connection to both pigment and paper. Pastels have an unlimited colour palette of rich vibrant colours, and artists are able to use them to express their own individual style..
This class is for experienced students who wish to work on their own subject matter. The tutor will give plenty of demonstrations, showing the qualities and vibrant colours that make pastels so unique. Weekly emailed class notes with information about the work of other pastel artists, will also accompany this course.
MATERIALS: Pastels, pastel paper, willow charcoal, bull dog clips, wet wipes, apron and drawing board. An A2 light weight foam board makes an excellent drawing board.
