Iconic – Rudo Greissworth

Ogle Gallery

ICONIC is a collection of twelve paintings that reimagine masterpieces spanning the Renaissance to the mid‑twentieth century. Each work centres women both as subject and as maker, inviting a reconsideration of how these figures have been seen, remembered, and revered.

This collection explores the idea of enhancement and dialogue with history. By blending my abstract style with painterly detail, I feel I’ve refreshed the environments where these iconic women might dwell anew. I wanted to honour the legacy of great artists and their creations which inspired me.

I am a local Auckland-based artist, mother, and passionate creative, making art whenever and wherever life allows. Born in Zimbabwe, my name (Rudo) means the loved one, a meaning that quietly underpins my practice. I am drawn to spaces where creativity is held within community, which is why Lake House Arts felt like a natural home for this exhibition. Their ethos reflects a belief I value deeply: that love for people, connection, and shared stories are the cornerstones of a good life.
