“What does the future hold? What possibilities are out there? What would you like to see tomorrow? Hei Āpōpō explores our vision for the future, knowing that what we do now helps shape what happens tomorrow. Our responsibilities to our tupuna, to our mokopuna and to the taiao are motivations for the works in this year’s Matariki exhibition.

Through the medium of natural fibres of Aotearoa our Kaipātiki weavers celebrate the whakapapa of Māori fibre arts, honouring the work and skill of our ancestors by continuing to uphold the mana of this special artform and to pass on our knowledge to future generations.”
