Perfect for those wanting to try something different from acrylics, or for anyone who has always been curious about oil painting. Students will be part of a scheduled class with a relaxed atmosphere and will give you confidence to experiment and enjoy the benefits oil painting has to offer.

Starting with a limited palette, you will develop skills in colour mixing, paint handling, and application techniques.

Students are welcome to work on subject matter of their choice. Please note that oil paints must be used with vegetable oil for cleaning (no turpentine).

Materials Required

A3 Canvas pad OR Oil/Acrylic paper, Oil paints- Raw Umber and Titanium White (Winton Brand are good). You can choose WATER MIXABLE OILS if you prefer, Gesso, Brushes- Synthetic or bristle will do. (Ike’s Emporium has these). We will discuss materials in more depth in the first class.
