Artist statement:

"This year the theme is Tipua so following my understanding  of Tipua being kaitiaki/guardians protectors the unknown and unseen.

I came up with the concept of man with the pressures of the world on his back and all that entails the good and the bad and how we treat and care for our world as we only have one to pass down to the future generations. I chose to do Papatuanuku as I feel she is the ultimate katiaki, protector of the physical and supernatural and  symbolizes the world as the earth mother inside the top of the log which sits on the back of man with all it's burdens. Asking the question what are you going to do to help the growth of the world and humanity for future generations to come.

It's the time to make a stand.

 Kia Ora Whanau."
