Kia ora, my name is Wendy Lawson (she/her). I’m a professionally registered clinical arts therapist and artist, offering individual and group arts therapy sessions, both in-person and online, from my studio at Lake House Arts in Takapuna, Auckland.
What is Arts Therapy?
Arts therapy is a form of psychotherapy that taps into the restorative potential of arts-based methods and materials. It supports the exploration of emotions, the processing of experiences, and the fostering of personal growth. With the therapist as a companion, clients work at their own pace to navigate challenges, find meaning, and uncover insights through the process and products of arts-making. What to Expect in a Session
In a typical session, we may use various creative modalities based on the needs of the moment. These could include talking, movement, sound, visual arts, writing, play, nature-connected explorations, mindfulness practices, and other forms of expression. Artistic skills aren’t necessary, but openness to arts-making is helpful. Decisions are made together, guided by a curious, compassionate, person-centred approach.
