About Lynette Jolicoeur
Lynette King was born in New Plymouth. As a mature student, Lynette enrolled at Elam art school in Auckland and graduated with a Diploma in Fine Arts
in 1956 before this became a degree course. She then took the boat to England and in 1957, studied at St Martin in the Fields School in London. From 1957
to 1958 she travelled around much of Europe backpacking with a group of other NZ women that she had met on board the ship out. Lynette studied at the Accademia Di Belle Arti at Perugia in 1960 and taught English as a Second Language at a Language School. By 1961 she was living in Taranto, Italy teaching English to Italian air force officers stationed at the Gioia Del Colle Airforce Base. It was here that she met and married Ray Jolicoeur, an American contractor to Rocketdyne who was stationed at the Air Force base. they moved back to New Zealand in 1972 with three children.
She was a founding member of the Lake House Art Centre, assisting with art exhibitions and her family are delighted that her work is being recognised by the Lake House.

Introduction
Introduced in 2024 The Lynette Jolicoeur Scholarship seeks to provide ongoing access to an extended arts and learning experience at Lake House Arts Centre. Scholarship funds ($8,000 value) are raised through the sale of Lynette’s paintings at Lake House Arts. Lynette’s works have been donated to Lake House Arts by her family.

Outcomes
It is hoped that by providing the scholarship the following outcomes are achieved:
- A young person is given the opportunity and the resources to learn about and make art at Lake House Arts Centre
- That the opportunity is provided to a young person who would not otherwise have the means or resources to pursue arts experiences
- That the opportunity is provided to a young person for the entirety of their schooling

- A scholarship which offers free access to any art class at Lake House Arts (Terms & Conditions apply)
- An opportunity to exhibit work at Lake House Arts
- Membership at Lake House Arts
Availability
The public will be notified through online platforms when enough funds have been raised toward these scholarships.
The Recipient (Nominnee)
The recipient would be determined by application and recommendation
It is required that it be established that:
- The recipient is a student or lives on the North Shore
- The recipient has shown an aptitude for making art and is committed to learning new skills
- The recipient and recipient’s family are experiencing hardship in some way which limits the recipient’s ability to access art training.
